2. 🖤 The Devil Wears Black

"Some people are born to rule. Others are born to be feared. Vihaan Suryavanshi was both."

Vihaan's POV

The entire boardroom fell into complete silence.

No one dared to breathe.

No one dared to look up.

The only sound that echoed through the room was the ticking of the expensive wall clock.

I closed the file in front of me before looking at the twelve people seated around the conference table.

"So..."

I spoke calmly.

"Who approved this proposal?"

No one answered.

I leaned back in my chair.

"I asked a question."

Still...

Silence.

A middle-aged manager finally stood up, his hands trembling.

"I... I did, sir."

I glanced at him.

"Based on what?"

He swallowed hard.

"I thought it would increase the company's profit."

"I don't pay you to think."

"I pay you to make the right decisions."

His face turned pale.

I threw the file onto the table.

"Read page twenty-three."

He quickly opened the file.

His eyes widened.

"I... I didn't notice this clause."

"I know."

"You didn't notice."

"And because of your carelessness..."

"We almost lost a deal worth five hundred crores."

The room became even quieter.

I stood up.

"If this deal had gone through..."

"Suryavanshi Global Holdings would've suffered a loss."

I walked around the table.

Every employee lowered their head.

"I don't tolerate mistakes."

I stopped beside the manager.

"You have two choices."

"You can resign with your dignity..."

"Or I'll terminate you in front of everyone."

Tears welled in his eyes.

"I'm sorry, sir."

"Sorry doesn't recover losses."

I looked at the HR head.

"Prepare his termination letter."

"Effective immediately."

"Yes, sir."

Without another glance, I walked out of the boardroom.

As soon as the door closed behind me, everyone finally released the breath they'd been holding.

Back inside my cabin...

My PA placed a cup of black coffee on the table.

"Sir, your next meeting has been rescheduled."

I nodded without looking up.

"And..."

He hesitated.

"What?"

"Your father called."

I stopped signing the document.

"What did he say?"

"He asked if you'll be coming home tonight."

"I'll see."

"Yes, sir."

After he left, I glanced at the family photograph on my desk.

For a brief moment...

My expression softened.

Then...

My phone vibrated.

I looked at the screen.

Unknown Number.

I answered.

"Speak."

"Boss..."

The voice on the other end sounded nervous.

"We caught him."

My eyes turned cold.

"Is he alive?"

"Yes."

"Barely."

"I'm coming."

I disconnected the call.

Within minutes, I left the office.

At the Warehouse

The abandoned warehouse smelled of blood and rust.

A man hung from the ceiling, his wrists tied with chains.

His body was covered in bruises.

My men immediately lowered their heads as I entered.

"Boss."

I ignored them.

Walking towards the prisoner, I pulled a chair and sat directly in front of him.

He looked up weakly.

"P-please..."

"I have children..."

I crossed one leg over the other.

"So?"

He started crying.

"I made a mistake."

"No."

I corrected him calmly.

"You betrayed me."

"I... I needed money."

A faint smile appeared on my face.

"The funny thing about greed..."

"It always has a price."

He began begging.

"I'll never do it again."

I stood.

"I know."

"Because dead men don't repeat mistakes."

His eyes widened.

Before he could scream...

I nodded once.

A gunshot echoed through the warehouse.

Silence returned.

I adjusted my watch.

"Dispose the body."

Without waiting for a reply, I walked out.

As my car disappeared into the night...

One thought crossed my mind.

Trust.

It was the most expensive thing in the world.

Because once someone broke it...

They never got a second chance.
